We made it!
In 35 days, 57 Poplar HARCA staff and friends collectively covered 4972 miles, travelling from London to Kyiv and then from Kyiv to Sana'a, the capital of Yemen. We even exceeded our target distance by 200 miles, just to be extra sure we got to our final destination in time!
It truly has been a team effort. We walked, jogged, cycled, swam, played football, even gardened our way to the finish line. You can see everyone's contributions here.
Also, a special mention goes to a group of Ukrainian friends who joined us from the very beginning, contributing their miles (or kms!) We would not have completed this challenge with out them and it's been very special to have them walking with us.
Huge thank you to everyone who has donated to us so far, it's definitely motivated us to keep logging those miles. This fundraising page will be open for donations until the 18th July.
As a reminded everything we raise will be matched by Poplar HARCA and split equally between:
1. Praxis for Migrants and Refugees : A local charity based in Tower Hamlets who provide advice, guidance and support for migrants and refugees settling in East London.
2. DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal : Currently 12 million people have had to flee their homes since the conflict began. That’s a quarter of the population.
3. Red Cross Yemen Crisis Appeal : After 5 years of conflict, 70% of the population require some form of humanitarian or protection support

**CHALLENGE EXTENDED**
We’ve absolutely smashed our collective goal, reaching Kyiv in just two weeks. So we’ve decided to extend our challenge, now walking from Kyiv to Sana’a, capital of Yemen! That’s a further 3,200 miles, to raise much needed funds for our causes.

At Poplar HARCA, we are aiming to collaboratively walk (or jog or cycle!) the distance between London and Kyiv over the month of June. That’s total of 1500 miles in 30 days! In doing so we are raising much needed funds for people affected by current conflicts and humanitarian crises.
