Support Athena's Fight for Recovery

Hi. My name is Adriana Camacho and I have 2 amazing beautiful daughters. Athena is 19 and Cassiopeia (Cassi) is 11.

On September 3rd, my 19 year old daughter, Athena, a Type 1 Diabetic, suffered a diabetic emergency. She went into DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) state. Due to DKA, Athena went into cardiac arrest. She was with a friend at the time and the friend called 911. EMS arrived and she was unresponsive they got a pulse back after 20 mins of CPR and medications to assist in restarting Athena’s heart. She was transported to White Plains Hospital where she again went into Cardiac Arrest. Athena was again resuscitated after 24 minutes. As of now Athena is on a ventilator with limited brain activity in the hospital. In an attempt to save her life her lower right leg was amputated. She has also had a tracheostomy to support the ventilator, has had a feeding tube placed, and is currently receiving dialysis.

Needless to say, things are getting more difficult to sustain for Athena’s medical bills. Also I haven’t worked and need all the help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again. I’m here every day and sleeping next to Athena's bedside while she is in the hospital in Cardiac CCU. Cassi have seen her every day and it is tough on her too.
