My name is Kristen, and I'm fundraising for my friend Tatiana's family, who is trying to leave Ukraine. I met Tatiana in 2019 when she was a Fellow at The Wilson Center. During her fellowship here in D.C., she stayed with our family and became fast friends.
She is a Ukrainian citizen working in Spain as a Professor.
Her mother, Nadiia, and sister Natasha are still in Ukraine, trying to get out and resettle in Spain with Tatiana.
Her cousin Nadiia is recently widowed, a bomb was dropped in her neighborhood in Kyiv, she and her daughters (Sofia, Maria, Eve (not in the photo) escaped, but her husband didn't make it. Her cousin and daughters fled to Vienna, Austria, and are trying to resettle in Vienna. The kids are in a state of shock after seeing their house, and their neighborhood became a war-torn area.
I reached out to Tatiana to see how I could help. She told me the best way is to send money to help her family resettle in a new country. They need money for rent, public transportation, food, clothes, shoes, and books in the next 2 months.
