The Bataan Memorial Death March is a 26.2 mile ruck march race that takes place in White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The race is conducted to honor the survivors and victims of the Bataan Death March.
The Bataan Death March was an event that occurred in WWII, following the battle of Bataan. Thousands of Filipino and hundreds of American POWs were force-marched through the Phillipine jungles by the Japanese military. Hundreds died of dehydration, disease, starvation, and exposure to the elements.
Our team is competing the military heavy division, which competes in uniform with 35-lb rucks. A team is composed of 5 members, and all 5 members must cross the finish line within 20 seconds of each other. This is to support one of the main tenents of the race - leave no man behind.
We have been training since December for this event, but we need funding for the travel expenses. This fundraiser is to raise the money necessary to cover the cost of team registration ($500), food, rental car, and airfare for our team of 5. We have arranged hotel rooms using membership points, so that cost is not included in this.
Thank you for supporting us!
