Hello, my name is Cherie and my older brother Mike passed away around the weekend of August 22, 2025 at the age of 52. He lived in Boston and struggled with addiction and the health problems associated with addiction and chronic homelessness. My brother was HIV+ and had stage 4 cirrhosis and these things likely caused his death. Because he died alone the state will investigate his death with toxicology and etc.

I do not have the funds to pay for his cremation as I am on disability. There are programs to help me, but only afterwards. This is short notice I know but I need to get this done by Friday October 10, 2025. The hold up has been his adult daughter not signing paperwork for me to have the rights to his remains and poor communications with medical examiner office even with my efforts. The costs of cremation and send his remains to me in the mail is $1445 total the goal was rounded up for any fees.

I loved my brother so much, I was his baby sister, but role reversal is not something you are prepared for. I have our mother’s remains with me and I just want them to be together.
