PINK UNICORN FOUNDATION - REBUILD YANDINA KINDY PROJECT
Yandina is a town on an Island located in the Russell Islands, in the Central Province of Solomon Islands. The Islands are partially covered in coconut plantations which are now completely overgrown. Yandina once had a thriving copra and oil factory with export as a soul source of income. Since the plant was shut down the community is left in ruins with everyone out of a job. As you could imagine the quality of sustainable living is very poor.
Our recent humanitarian trip to Yandina has provided me with allot more insight as to what this community is truly lacking. Education & the tools to do the job. I am raising money to send a shipping container full of donated good over to the island to help the community get back on its feet. The long term goal is to help them restore business and an income for the island but first things first, some basic needs such as Books, tools, building materials, medical supplies and clothing.
One of our projects is to re-build the Yandina Kindy, hopefully a whole new building, but at the very least, new roofing and gutters to supply clean drinking water and to supply resources for educational purpose plus some play equipment that is not completely rusty :(
The primary & high school are also is great need of resources, especially the Library which is grossly understocked, it caters for 400 students.
If you know of anyone who might be able to help in some way please tell them about this cause. You will not only be contributing to changing people’s lives but are also helping an entire community.
We are also collecting educational items, such as books, stationary supplies, clothing, clothes racks and coat hangers as I hope to help a family set up an OP shop as another source of income.
