Mother’s Funeral Expenses

With mixed emotions, we share this update about our beloved mother, Silvia Saavedra. Our mom is our rock, our heart, and an enduring example of strength.

Without question or doubt, our mom's love has always guided us through every milestone and season. Now, we reach out to our loved ones and community to help support our mom in the next phase of her journey.

Silvia was diagnosed with cirrhosis in 2008 and was quickly placed on a transplant list. She has also faced other health issues such as lupus and diabetes.

Later in 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, while her condition remained a constant presence in her life. Between a mastectomy and complications with her liver, she battled to maintain her strength, being in and out of the hospital from 2013 through 2018.

In 2018, things took another turn when she was diagnosed with liver cancer. During this time, we watched our mom continue to face the war within her body and still find ways to exude and exemplify love and strength.

With faith guarding over our mom, it felt as though a prayer had been answered in 2019 when she was finally taken off the waiting list, and a match had been found for her to receive her liver transplant.

Although recovery remained challenging, Silvia proved her strength. Despite her diagnoses, Silvia watched over us, her kids, and stood by our sides through three college graduations and two of her daughters' weddings. She loved us through every win, through every tear, through every moment that helped us grow into the person she knew we could be.

However, in the last two years, the cancer returned. Her medical team proceeded with an ablation in 2021 to shrink the tumor, but by 2022, the cancer had spread to her lungs.

With chemotherapy and years of medication in her body, our mom began to experience negative effects on the rest of her body, particularly her kidneys.

This year, we were notified that her options and time were now limited. My mom's wish was for us to go to Mexico City as a family, and we fulfilled it in March to spend quality time together.

We worked closely with the medical team to ensure that our mom's final days were spent together and as peacefully as possible for her.

With heavy hearts, we share the news that Silvia passed away surrounded by her family at her home on Thursday, May 25th 2023. Her body is now at rest, and she is in the presence of God. We are grieving this immense loss.

We would appreciate any and all support that can be given to aid in our mom's arrangements and dad's support throughout this process.
