Molly's Fund for Teenage Cancer Trust

My name is Molly Parkinson, I am nineteen years old and on the 30th of July 2020 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s disease (HD) is a type of lymphoma, which is a blood cancer that starts in the lymphatic system. Lymphomas are the most common group of cancers in teenagers and young adults. Around 1 in 5 young people diagnosed with cancer have lymphoma. I am currently undergoing Chemotherapy at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Hospital, this has been challenging but made easier with the amazing work of Teenage Cancer Trust. Young people and teenagers, like myself, need support and expert treatment from the moment they heard the word Cancer. This is was The Teenage Cancer Trust look to offer. That’s why on the 26th and 27th September 2020, myself and a group of my friends are taking on the The Lake District Three Peak Challenge. At the highest point of the Challenge, a large portion of the group will be shaving the hair in honour of all individuals who suffer from hair loss due to Cancer. This will be a demanding task especially during my chemotherapy, however nothing compared to the difficult times the 2,100 young people go through when diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma each year in the UK. All I ask is that, if you are in the position to do so, you donate what you can to this brilliant Charity to help the young people all over the country in desperate need of the support and aid The Teenage Cancer Trust provide.
