Hello you guys. It's Elizabeth and Amanda here. Yesterday, around 4am, our loved one, Alex was transported to the ER at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton. Though what he thought was a severe asthma attack, we quickly found out that he had severe COVID-19 pneumonia. As an individual with asthma, our Alex was experiencing symptoms in which he thought were his last breaths.. When admitted to the ER, he had a fever of 101.8, blood pressure at 142/82Hg, and his oxygen level was at 75%. He was immediately put on a BPAP and was transferred over to the ICU and has been under treatment ever since.
Although the first 24 hours felt like an eternity and having every second filled with worry and anxiety, Alex fought through countless needles and through his fear of possibly never being able to get back on his feet. At this time, we don't know how long he will need to stay at the ICU but we all know and believe Alex will stay strong and positive until he gets discharged. Currently, his lungs are still extremely fragile and weak and any sudden movement could spike his heart rate, but on the bright side, he has been able to successfully ween off from the BPAP and onto a heated high flow nasal cannula! He is under the best treatment and best care possible at the ICU!
Since he has been in the hospital, I have witnessed Alex undergo countless numbers of IV's, blood tests, steroids, ventilations, X-rays, CT scans, insulin shots, etc. which is why Amanda and I wanted to set up this GoFundMe in hopes that we could help Alex relieve any future financial burdens in his incurring medical bills and other expenditures. It would mean so much to him to receive any amount of support or even any word of encouragement <3 Please keep in your thoughts and prayers!
