Hi, I’m Lisa, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my dear friend Mary Helda Akongo - an incredibly passionate and powerful social innovator from Uganda.

Mary has just been accepted into the Master of Studies in Social Innovation at the University of Cambridge, an extraordinary opportunity and a major milestone in her journey to drive long-term change in Uganda and across the African continent.

This fundraiser isn’t just about helping her reach Cambridge. It’s about investing in someone who has already reached and uplifted over 50.000 women and children through her work in the social impact space and whose potential for even greater impact is limitless.

The total cost of the program is £54.200 (Tuition: £34.200, Travel & residentials: £15.000, College fees & incidentals incl. visa: £5.000). Mary has already secured a partial scholarship of £17.100 and saved £5.000 herself. She’s now fundraising the remaining £32.100 to make this dream a reality.

So far, ten wonderful friends have already pledged £3.080, showing how much love and belief there is in her journey. Their support gave Mary the courage to open up this dream to a wider circle - because it really does take a village.
