Hello friends, family, and community!
We are Kam, Shogo and Yong Kiat, and we’ve decided to take on a massive challenge together: on Sunday, November 16, 2025, we will be running the Berkeley Half Marathon! As a comprehensive challenge, we will be tackling the 13.1 mile, 10K and 5K runs respectively.
This 13.1-mile race is more than just a run for us; it's a testament to our friendship, discipline, and the crazy idea that we can achieve something extraordinary together. We met at the Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP), and so we shall run in the grounds of GSPP!
This race will be an "exhilarating adventure through the heart of Berkeley." We'll be dashing down the iconic Telegraph Avenue, running through Cal’s historic Sather Gate, cruising along the vibrant Shattuck Avenue, and soaking in the beauty of the waterfront. It's the ultimate loop course that will test our endurance and show us the city we love from a whole new perspective.
Taking on a half marathon is a huge commitment, not just physically and mentally, but also financially. That’s where you come in. We are hoping to raise funds to help cover the costs associated with our journey to the finish line.
A personal shoutout from Yong Kiat - for those who know him, he has been trying to lose weight and shape up for the past 14 months! This is his commitment towards a healthier lifestyle, and he's looking forward to your support!
Your generous support will go directly towards:
Race Registration Fees: Securing our official spots in the race.
Nutrition and Hydration: Fueling our bodies for long training runs and the big race day and ensuring we have everything we need to succeed on November 16th.
Every donation, no matter the size, is a huge boost of encouragement. It's a message that you believe in us. If you can't contribute financially, sharing this page with your friends and family would mean the world to us!
Thank you for being a part of our journey. We can't wait to make you proud as we cross that finish line in Civic Center Park.
Wish us luck!
With immense gratitude,
Kam Boonyawee, Yeo Yong Kiat, and Shogo Nakata
