I’m taking the funds for myself because life took a few unexpected turns over the last few years. I’m single and have worked hard since the age of 15, I’m now 47. I fell behind on rent when I missed a lot of work due to an injury. I lost my car that was nearly paid off, then I lost my apartment. I moved in with a neighbor that I did not know well and it was not a good situation. I lost my mom to a very difficult battle with cancer. I lost my storage unit, all material possessions, I know, but it left me with nothing. When the lease was up at my neighbor’s he moved to New York, he threw out the last of things that I did own, with the exception of a small amount of clothes. I went to a homeless shelter in Chicago where I was told I couldn’t stay because my 2 small bins of clothes was too much to have, I could only have something the size of a duffle bag. So, I’m the morning they handed me a sandwich and a coffee and wished me luck. I had no where to go so I stood outside, it began to rain. Me and the remainder of my things got soaked. The very next thing I remember I was being picked up by the paramedics, I passed out. I have a thyroid condition and I had not been taking the medication, so I had what they told me was a thyroid storm. While I was passed out, the remainder of my belongings were stolen. I spent a few weeks in the hospital then my only option after that was a nursing home. The particular facility I’m in doesn’t allow residents to hold a job so I’m out of money and working on a transfer to facility where I can work again, it’s a difficult and lengthy process, as they don’t want to let go of the state funding for my body being here. I am at absolute rock bottom, so I’m turning to the pubic for help. I’m a very hard worker, smart, caring, and still young. Being confined to a small room for 21 hours a day simply can not be my fate. Thank you for your consideration, hopefully you can help.
