Moyo Village - Puerto Rico Animal Rescue Fund
In May, Moyo Village will again be returning to Puerto Rico with a group of volunteers to assist multiple non-profit animal shelters with their rescue efforts. Besides providing our assistance on the ground, we would like to present each shelter that we work with, with a substantial donation that will create a lasting impact for the animals in their care. Moyo Village believes that the animal rescue mission takes an entire community, not just individuals acting alone, and we stand by other organizations in their efforts to care for and find homes for their rescue animals. Our volunteer efforts, and these funds, are crucial in helping to solve the massive street dog epidemic currently facing the island. Please know that no donation is too big or too small!
We collected a list of the top needs of our partners, and here are just some of the ways that these funds will be used:
-purchase large stainless steel water bowls
-purchase martingale collars
-purchase leashes
-purchase necessary meds & preventatives
-purchase cleaning supplies
-monetary donations directly to our rescue partners
-shipping these supplies via cargo to Puerto Rico from the US
A little about Moyo Village's contributions in 2020 + 2021: So far in 2021, Moyo Village has donated over $600 in monetary donations and over $450 worth of supplies to several partner rescues, and has hosted 1 Volunteer Trip in January, where 6 volunteers provided hands-on support to these partners. In 2020, Moyo Village also led a January Volunteer Trip, bringing 12 volunteers to the island - volunteering with 3 different animal rescue organizations and donating over $1500. Moyo Village also hosted several fundraising events throughout the rest of 2020 (Miles for Miles - a sponsorship donate per mile style fundraiser, a Yoga Clothing Swap in Chicago, and a virtual yoga class) allowing the support to get 2 dogs adopted in Chicago and to send over 30 travel crates to Puerto Rico to assist with animal transports to other locations.
