My name is Josh Tejada and I am the owner of a wonderful cat named Mowgli.
Mowgli is the sweetest, most affectionate black-haired little boy kitty cat I've ever owned. He's only about 4 years old, and he's usually the happiest little guy, always playing with his sister without a care in the world, or watching TV with my mom.
Unfortunately, over the past couple of weeks, he has fallen very ill. He was yowling and hacking in severe pain, and found himself totally unable to use the litter box. At first, he improved a little bit, but then he got way worse, until he started making horrible pained noises in his little corner box that he was unable to leave. We immediately took him to a vet who informed us he needed emergency care. So now he is spending a few days in a pet hospital, and the vets there informed us that he has had some sort of blockage in his urinary tract and elevated kidney enzyme levels.
They put him on a catheter and watched him for a few days,, with the price of his hospital stay going up each day. Sadly, it's only getting worse. His enzyme levels have gone up and he is only able to produce small amounts of urine without the catheter. Mowgli's urinary tract is re-blocking and according to the doctor, will probably continue to re-block. It is very likely that he will now require surgery.
Based on the doctor's estimates, for two days of stay + major surgery, the total will be around $5500 to $6000. As much as we love our cat, we simply cannot afford his veterinary care bills. This could not have happened at a worse time for us. We are already swamped with bills and debts that we have to pay, and while we have been making progress in paying them, this recent plunge into the red with Mowgli is threatening to put us under - we may have to start liquidating. So I am reaching out for help on GoFundMe, in the hopes that some good samaritans can help us ease our latest financial burden.
