Mower NEEDED for Mountain Empire Little League
Donation protected
Hello our Mountain Empire Community,
My name is Tammy Thorpe and I am president of Mountain Empire Little League. We are a small league of approximately 170 players. We include T-ball through Majors and even a Juniors team. Our league includes the 6 communities of Campo, Pine Valley, Jacumba, Boulevard, Descanso and Potrero.
MELL has been committed to developing our baseball players to be the best teammates and the best players that they can be. MELL charters multiple teams, ages four to fifteen, in order to provide a player placement that better fosters their development. MELL strives to offer players and families the best baseball experience in East County at a reasonable price. We work hard to accomplish this in a positive environment that promotes good sportsmanship and respect for the game and ultimately makes the child not only a better baseball player but hopefully also a better teammate and student.
Mountain Empire Little League is in desperate need of a new riding lawn mower. Our current mower is on its last leg. We use the mower to mow the grass, fertilize the fields, to drag the infield and clear other areas around the fields. A large riding lawn mower is a necessity in keeping our fields safe and playable for our players. We use weekly during the season to mow and drag all four of our baseball fields.
We currently have a 60 inch John Deere which has put in its time, for over ten years. Last year it lost a bolt out of the carburetor and into the cylinders. We managed to fish out the bolt and bandage it to last the 2021 season, but the knock is getting louder and louder and the mower is losing power quickly. We need a new one for the 2022 season. We noticed there are cheaper options for riding mowers, but seeing the amount of abuse the John Deere took over the last ten plus years and is still running, we believe it is worth the additional cost.
We greatly appreciate your generous donation to help Mountain Empire Little League give our players safe and playable fields.
