Have you ever been through the nightmare of moving? How about moving across the country? My brother Justin and his young family were moving across country from Pennsylvania to Colorado. All of their belongings, photos, computers, furnishings, couches... EVERYTHING was packed in their moving truck. When they woke up and went outside to leave the motel, the only thing sitting in the space where their life had been packed up was a pile of broken glass. They lost everything and are trying to start over from scratch. They are still working on finding a place to stay where his work has taken him and could use all of the help they can get as soon as possible.
Here is what he had to say about it on Facebook today:
Look at the picture below. It's of bits of a broken window with nothing else around it. This is the place where our U-Haul sat overnight until it was broken in to and stolen. It contained everything, except for the clothes we have in suitcases, that we've purchased. It contained what insurance calls "valuables". I even called them that before this move. I love my "things" and there's a big chance I'll never see them again. While I'm upset about this happening, I've had a chance to think. I'm helpless as those items are lost, BUT when I want to go home to visit family, I can on a plane and fly there. If I can't get there that way, drive a car. If I want to see my friends I've made in PA, fly right back. THAT makes me feel the opposite of helpless. I look forward to having a chance to focus more in life on what matters - family, friends, and people in general - those three are "valuables"... not couches, TV's, and computers. Life is crazy, but it's all manageable with the help of others. Today, focus on what's really valuable to you.
