I'm Nawnsense! or Primas. Or Miss Jones, if you're fancy.
Thank you for stopping by and seeing my GFM.
TL;DR VERSION:
I am raising funds to move me and my two sons to a new apartment either here in Los Angeles, CA with my Section 8 voucher or in Nashville, TN without it. I will be closer to the music studio i work at, and as a double bonus my son will be closer to his extended family.
I am seeking to cover travel cost, lodging cost, a down payment and a Restart Fund, as i will be leaving everything electronic behind because i don't want any bugs hitching along, and to save money on travel cost.
BACK STORY
I am a single mom of two wonderful boys aged 7 and 10. I have been homeless most of their lives on and off, due to the cost of living in los angeles and living on SSDI. in 2020, i went viral when i was homeless for a silly video on tiktok, a video that led to a whirlwind of support and love from an online community that i didnt think existed.
in 2024, i finally got myself and my kids an apartment - in the south central area, but an apartment no less! very grateful to have been in an area where i dont feel like i stand out too much. After 3 months, i noticed a mouse in my apartment. Then 2. then 5. and so on. I reported, i called, i informed, i did all i was asked of the Health Department and of HUD, and they said because he has proof he is "working on it," there was nothing to be done. I said okay, i understand, on August 11th.
September 17th i put in a request to move. My social worker with LSCCC informed me that if i plan to leave my apartmen and move to a new one here in los angeles, i will have to cover the $3000 down payment myself. That baffled me, but i decided to agree and work hard on social media. I wasnt doing well, and my videos werent doing good, so i just assumed it was curtains for me, because im not good at complaining to uppers about anything, cause im just grateful to not be on the streets anymore.
Flash over to 2025, and on January 3rd, i went viral for a video. I did great! I even had the money to move thanks to wonderful donators by April! In the same month of April, I was informed that i had to wait for approval to move. I said okay. How long will that be? 30 to 45 days. Oh okay, so as long as i dont have any big asks from my kids it should be good! right?
May.
June.
July.
November?
JANUARY? AGAIN?
So I reached out to the HUD people, and they informed me i had a new worker- and my new worker never recieved my papaerwork. Great, lost in the system again, im sure its cause i dont yell at people to help me and i just accept waiting as a part of life. "Can you please escalate this higher so then they know ive been waiting for a while?" the lady on the phone said "yeah, i had one lady call that she applied in December and we are JUST getting to her paper." "ma'am," i quipped, "I put my papers in SEPTEMBER. Thats not helping me!" we both do that nervous laugh thang, and then she leaves a message for my worker. I go fill out ANOTHER paperwork, because again, they said the new one never recieved the paperwork.
It is now March 15th, 2026, and i'm so desparate to leave that even if they only approve me to move somewhere in LA County, and deny my request to move to Tennessee, i will take it. I have been recording music in the North Hollywood area and my eldest childs father is in Mission Hills, and every uber ride to either get my son or to record music is over 60 dollars one way. If I could move closer to the studio, that would help with not only lowering that cost monthly, but i would be able to have a car. I currently live in a high crime area, so the safest choice is to go carless and use the metro.
Thank you for reading if you made it all the way here, and I hope you enjoyed your time. Have a great day!
