Moving Funds: Let's Get Mama Kim Housed
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
We are creating this fundraiser to help Kimberley G, our Mama Kim, out of a tough spot.
Kimberley is currently facing eviction from her residence and we are hoping to raise the money to cover the cost of a move and first few month’s rent in a new place. Mama Kim is vivacious, compassionate, and full of good will. Her beautiful spirit has impacted myriad others and therefore it’s imperative that we show up for her now in this time of need. She has been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis which has presented throughout her whole body and rendered her immobile without a tremendous amount of pain. Her suffering was made worse by a racist medical system that took 2 years to correctly diagnose her. In addition to the arthritis, Mama Kim suffers from PTSD following two scarring assaults in the span of 3 years. While she was able to have surgery on her feet, the procedures have left her in pain just from simple walking and movement. A car accident caused and exacerbated back pain to the point that it’s so bad some days that Mama Kim is unable to get out of bed. The culmination of all of these ailments, injuries, and systemic injustices has left Kim in a very vulnerable position: for the first time since she was 13, she can’t work, and she can’t afford to pay her rent. While there has been a moratorium on evictions due to the pandemic, her landlord has demanded the money she owes nonetheless. The impending loss of the eviction moratorium come the end of December has allowed Kimberley to be served with two eviction notices. It’s imperative that Mama Kim find a safe, warm, affordable place to move into before January and we have to do our best to get her the funds she needs in order to do that as soon as possible!
It is our duty to support a Black woman in attaining safety, love, peace of mind, and a space in which to heal. Share far and wide, it is so important to us that Kimberley is able to move forward in her life with the dignity she deserves. We believe in the power of community and know firsthand that Mama Kim is the first one to show up for others in need. Let’s show her love and compassion, she is more than worthy and she has so much to offer this world and her community. We encourage directly sending money to her PayPal, and all donations are welcome and appreciated. Thank you so much for your support!
