Moving Forward with Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Help Kewin continue his fight against Brain Cancer and reach his dream of attending school for Musical Engineering.
In December of 2017, at the age of 20 Kewin began to notice weakness and limping stemming from his left leg. In early January 2018, he noted his left arm was stiff and shaky. A few weeks later, he awoke with left sided hemiplegia, losing control of his entire left side. He was diagnosed with Pilocytic Astrocytoma of the Deep Right Basal Ganglia.
Since this diagnosis, he’s had 5 brain surgeries including a craniectomy and subtotal resection of the astrocytoma, as well as numerous courses of both inpatient and outpatient services including both physical and occupational therapies.

As his physical therapist, working with Kewin throughout the past 2 years, I encouraged Kewin to create this GoFundMe to assist in various, important ways that will help him move towards greater health, mental and physical.
Now 22 years old, Kewin’s fight against cancer is not his only struggle. Kewin’s mother was diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing her own personal treatment and recovery. With his mother being unemployed and struggling with financial hardship, Kewin would often arrive to his therapy sessions without having eaten. When he does eat, he is unable to eat healthily because of limited resources. While his appetite is often decreased due to medications including chemotherapy treatment and his ongoing anxiety, he frequently states that if he had the financial capability, he would eat healthier knowing it is important for his recovery and overall sense of well-being.
Sadly, just this past September (2019), Kewin’s younger 20 year-old brother who he was very close with was murdered. Something that no sibling, parent or family should ever go through, Kewin is dealing with so many challenges yet through it all he is persevering and focused on moving forward, but he could use some support.
As he continues with therapy, one of Kewin’s primary goals is to attend schooling to pursue his dream of working as a Musical Engineer. Funds raised can help him reach this goal, as well as pay for other daily needs including access to healthier food and various transportation needs that will help in his recovery and overall sense of well-being.
Thank you for considering a donation. If financial contribution is not possible, please pass this on and share on social media, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and email lists.
Sincerely, in support of Kewin,
Andres, PT DPT
