Hi, my name is Avery Wills. 

I'm contacting you today to ask for your help. 

After just 2 visits to Iowa, I fell in love with the area and moved from
the East Coast to Coralville, IA in July 2007. Things quickly fell into place
for me. I found a job, a place to live, and a church that opened its doors
to me. Music has always played a big part in my life, and I really got
involved in the music scene. I enjoy baking and I began a small service of
making cheesecakes which became a great part of my life. (When a
cheesecake didn’t come out the way I wanted it, my co-workers
became the recipients and taste-testers of those cheesecakes!) Today
my passions revolve around music, making cheesecakes, and now
quilting.

My cheesecake making business did not take off the way I had hope in NC.
With the quarantine, I was unable to develop a new community in NC, which
forced me to give up that source of income. 
Since 2014, I have been dealing with a number of medical conditions,
including a kidney transplant (very high price for immunosuppression drugs
- paid out of pocket),
heart issues, diabetes (insulin pump, 2 types of insulins – paid out of pocket),
and most recently required surgery to remove my spleen and the tail
of my pancreas. 

I left Iowa in 2019 to live with my family in North Carolina. After
arriving, I found out I didn’t qualify for sufficient NC health benefits,
including Medicaid. One example of not having that extra help - 3 trips to
the hospital in one year, my share after insurance - $300/each trip.

I am returning to Iowa to live. This fundraiser is not just about the cost of t
he move and other expenses, it’s about starting over. It’s about reconnecting
with old friends and connecting with new people. It’s about being happy.
I feel that Iowa is where I belong. With your help I will be able
to pay for the move, and begin to cover the cost of medications, insurance,
housing, and incidental expenses during this transition period. After being
unemployed for several years, I intend to get a new job soon.
