Help Stuart moving his life back to Scotland after a breakup

Hi. My name is Stuart but most people know me as Pockets. I really wish I wasn't in a position in which I had to organise this GoFundMe but I am really in a very tight spot.

I’ve lived in Gloucester for the last 4 years, but I am originally from Edinburgh. I moved south to Gloucester to be with my partner at the time, taking all of my belongings with me as well as all my work stuff. I ran a recording studio in Edinburgh and I took all of the equipment with me in order to work. Sadly, in July of this year my partner broke up with me.

I’ve been stuck in Edinburgh for the last two months working for the Edinburgh Fringe and I am due to continue working until the first week of October. My ex has requested that I move all my stuff out of their house ASAP (within the next couple weeks) as they are working on getting the house ready for sale. This means I am going to have to take a week off work to go down and pack all my things up, and then move them back to Edinburgh. The costs for this are very high, and with me taking time off work to do this I am going to be significantly in the red for the foreseeable. I also had Covid for 2 weeks in July meaning I am already down that in work pay there too.

They gave me two options for packing my stuff. Either I go down and pack it safely and securely (with thousands of pounds worth of recording equipment on the line this is my preferred option.) Or they pack it all for me and I cross my fingers that nothing gets accidentally damaged in the process. You can probably tell which I would prefer.

The plan would be -

- Fly down to Bristol + train to Gloucester (cheaper than the train full way)

- Pack for 2 days

- Hotel for 2 nights (I am not welcome to stay in the house)

- Fly back to Edinburgh

- Book a moving company to move my stuff back to Edinburgh with insurance. (cheaper than renting a large van, driving down, loading and driving back. Plus its all insured).

Breakdown of the costs (some of these are rough as I need to be precise when booking moving company with how many boxes I have, Which I wont know until I have packed).

Flights and transport for me = £125

Packing materials = £50

Hotel 2 nights = £200

Moving company costs + insurance = £800

Their parents have offered me +£300 back from my bills payments to help.

I am also by taking time off work to do all this going to loose around £800 for the week off work. Also, my mental health is at an all time low and my thoughts are in a very dark place.

I really don’t want to ask for help, but I have been placed in a position in which I do not see a way out of unless I do. I wanted to start a life and have a family with them, but sadly they did not want the same in the end. Please help and I will forever thank you.
