Moving and restarting my life
Donation protected
Hello friends,
It's Grace. I've been here in Miami since i was born and for a whole 26 years, but living in Florida is no longer feasible for me. Due to the state's anti-trans legislation, prohibitive cost of living, and my personal feeling of estrangement, I've decided to move to Denver, Colorado. I believe this move is essential for my wellbeing and future.
The way I'm planning to do this is by driving myself in a rented U-Haul, with my car hitched behind, packed with all of my belongings currently in a 10x10 storage unit. Once I arrive in Colorado, I'll need to pay for movers to help me settle into my new place, along with a security deposit, initial living expenses, healthcare costs, and a small emergency fund.
I currently have a secure remote job, but my current circumstances still leave me living paycheck to paycheck. I can afford the cost of living somewhere in the greater Denver area, but a move like this is a huge expense and financial obstacle. Here's some estimated expenses to shed light on how i chose the fundraiser goal:
Professional movers in Miami to pack a U-Haul and movers in Denver to unpack it into my apartment: $1,000
Renting a U-Haul and hitching my car: $1,500
Gas money for the journey: $300
First three months of living expenses (rent, food, utilities): $9,000
Security deposit: $2,000
Initial healthcare expenses: $500
A small emergency fund: $2,000
Total: $16,300
Plus GoFundMe fees: $700
Grand total: $17,000
It's a lot, and I feel a bit uncomfortable asking, but I could really use your support. Every little bit will contribute to repaying a personal loan i have accepted to finance my move across the country. I understand that not everyone is in a position to contribute financially, and that's okay. Your emotional support and encouragement mean just as much to me right now.
Thank you for considering to help me. Please share my fundraiser with your trusted allies.
