Moving 3840's boiler and tender to Tyseley

Tax deductible
The CHURCHWARD COUNTY TRUST (CCT) is actively constructing a full-size re-creation of one of the Great Western Railway's 'County' class 4-4-0 locomotives, No. 3840 County of Montgomery. The locomotive is being built at Tyseley Locomotive Works in Birmingham using a combination of original parts and all-new, purpose-built components.

No. 3840's all-important boiler, together with its tender chassis, is currently located at Didcot Railway Centre in Oxfordshire; a site with no direct road access and which relies on materials to be taken in and out by rail. However, the CCT has been given a small window of opportunity at the beginning of June to get the boiler and tender out of the centre and transported by road to Tyseley to be united with the rest of the locomotive.

The cost of the rail move out of the centre, and the onward road transport, is to cost around £6,000.00, which the CCT needs to raise if it is to take advantage of this opportunity. Therefore any donations to help cover this cost would be gratefully received.

Thank you!
