Movies For Cancer Children

MOVIES FOR KIDS WITH CANCER

On average, about 70 kids with cancer are stuck in a hospital living in the gloomy bare rooms for several long months of their cancer treatments.

When we learned there were NO activities for the sick children in the hospitals in Ukraine, we started a campaign to raise $5,000 to purchase the projectors and the big screens to give to these kids with cancer. This would enable them to at least watch their favorite cartoons and movies together like the healthy kids would in a movie theater.

Everybody like movies! Let us cheer up these poor kids and let them have some fun and feel cared for during his holiday season!

80% of the little patients have a chance to survive and recover from cancer if they are properly treated and have the will to fight for their lives. Positive emotions play a huge part in their successful healing.

Our plan:

December 19th is a big holiday in Ukraine: the feast day of Saint Nicholas (Father Christmas) when children receive gifts and treats.

We want to install three overhead projectors in three underfunded children hospitals respectfully in the cities of Kyiv, Zhytomir, and Odesa for the kids with cancer.

We will show children some Disney classics for inspiration, dreams, and hope followed by the performance of the local actors wearing costumes of Disney princesses and other cartoon characters. World famous heroes would teach cancer kids of positive thinking through their show as well as playing games with them and giving hope! Children would never forget this time!

If we are fortunate enough to collect more funds than necessary for our cause, we will use it all to buy medical equipment and drugs for the poor kids in the hospitals.

About Ganna, who's idea started this project:

Her mother passed away in 2012 because of the breast cancer in Ukraine. She knows well from her own experience how cancer affects families, how much pain it causes, and how much strength it takes to keep hoping for a successful recovery.

Ganna believes she is fortunate enough to have moved to the United States and here she has more opportunities to give and help those in need. She is a Ukrainian, a mom, and a volunteer of the charity organization "Help Children of Ukraine Foundation" (HCUfoundation.org).
