Movement Continuum & Moving North

We're honored to be included in Eliza Mullins' Fundraiser with Creative Lexington Youth Concert Series! Movement Continuum will be performing alongside ACTivate Artists with Purpose this coming Sunday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. via livestream. We are raising funds for Movement Continuum's 13th season, as well as Moving North, our cost-free dance training program for girls 10-18 years old.

In its 13th season, Movement Continuum is hosting The Forum, a class and performance event bringing Lexington dance organizations together to create community and build relationships under the same roof, traveling across Kentucky on a "hometown tour" performing in communities without contemporary dance companies, and producing a new original work set to premiere in November.

Moving North is in its first season and provides completely cost-free dance training for girls who live in communities that have been underserved in their exposure to equity in art. Dancers are provided with transportation to and from Moving North events, all dance gear including shoes, leotards, leggings, etc., costuming, instruction, choreography, and beyond without the burden of financial responsibility. Moving North creates a safe space for girls 10-18 years old to express creativity through dance while honing technical skills, cultivating healthy body image, and building community between peers and mentors. Currently preparing for its first performance, Moving North has created a beautiful and inspiring community for its girls, instructors and mentors.

Funds raised will be directed to sustaining Movement Continuum and Moving North's operational costs, including studio rental, to provide MC and MN dancers with a home to practice and nurture their art and communities.
