Move Us Along Our Journey!

Hi this is Teri...and here is my plea!

In May 2022 the ban on evictions was lifted causing an influx of people being forced out of their homes. We [my husband and I] are part of those statistics! Although we have been in the same house for 12 years and have NEVER been late with the rent, this seemed like an opportune time for the landlord to sell the property…and the new owner doesn’t want us here!

Originally given a 30-Day Notice to Vacate, we were actually served eviction papers, and a hearing was scheduled. To save you all the ugly details…I’ll just say we are working diligently to vacate the property ASAP! But due to the “surprise attack”…we couldn’t find a place to move to that we could afford or that we were willing to live in! All our possessions are going into storage and we will be bunking with my daughter and granddaughter until the fall when we have opted to relocate to Chicago! My son and his wife are graciously helping make that possible…but it’s not without its financial demands! And neither of us has ever been noted for our money prowess. Retired, living on a limited income, in our “golden years”, struggling with physical demands…we need a little help from our friends! It’s not easy getting old and embarking on a new phase of life. We are excited about what lies ahead…and scared to death, as well.
