Move The Vestal Museum to The Rail Trail

Tax deductible
Do you want to help us move the Vestal museum to the rail trail on the 200th anniversary of the Town of Vestal? Every small donation will help. We are moving the historic depot building up over the powerlines by crane and down to the rail trail near the coal house. The Vestal depot, built in 1881 in the Carpenter Gothic Style for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company, remained in operation until 1959. Threatened with demolition, the Vestal Depot was moved in 1972 and was later restored and reopened as a museum in 1976. We are moving it back to the rail trail to preserve the unique structure and continue building upon many museum events. The museum will be better positioned to receive National Historic Status, it will attract many more visitors off the rail trail, and a small historic-like district will be created along with the coal house and the two historic Rounds buildings.
