Help Big V Sanctuary Find Safety and a New Home

Hello, and thank you for visiting this page. My name is Lindsey, and I’m a friend and long-time supporter of Big V Sanctuary — a truly special, family-run animal rescue in rural France.

I discovered Big V over seven years ago and have followed their journey ever since. The sanctuary is run by Miranda, an English expat, her French husband Jérôme, and their two wonderful children, Louis and Wynnie, who have been raised surrounded by animals and help care for them every day.

Today, Big V is home to more than 200 rescued animals — each with their own story, many of whom were saved from slaughter, abandonment, or abuse. Some were considered too sick or too old to be “worth saving,” but at Big V, every life matters. The family has opened their hearts and home to these animals, offering them not only care but freedom, choice, and unconditional love. They call their haven “The Land Ark,” and that’s exactly what it is — a refuge for the forgotten.

But their sanctuary is now under threat.

The Reality They Face

Big V is located in a deeply traditional farming village, where animal rescue and vegan living are met with suspicion, hostility, and, increasingly, violence. The family faces daily harassment, trespassing, and even attacks on the sanctuary’s residents. Gates have been opened deliberately, putting animals at risk. Vandalism is frequent. And every time they leave the property — even briefly — they return to more damage or danger.

Despite years of trying to coexist peacefully and raise awareness, they are no longer safe. Local authorities have offered no support, and the mental, emotional, and physical toll has become overwhelming. The sanctuary cannot continue under these conditions.

Our Goal

We are raising €500,000 to help Big V Sanctuary relocate to a safer, more supportive area in France — a place where they can rebuild their lives and continue their lifesaving work without fear.

This is a huge undertaking, but it is absolutely necessary. These animals, and the family who cares for them with such unwavering love, deserve peace. They deserve community. They deserve safety.
