Thanks to all your love and support, we were able to spend the last three years of our life solely focused on raising five kids with love, stability, comfort, fun, and expansiveness. We were also able to support children outside of our home, support incarcerated people, and bring my mom’s home out of foreclosure. Our gratitude for everyone’s financial, energetic and physical support allowed us to grow as nurturing parents and in nurturing ourselves. Our situation has suddenly and unexpectedly changed. We have one kid that we are sending off to college (way to go Joaneé!) and the other four kids are suddenly out of our care and are back with their mom.
We are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives and we are raising money to fulfill some of the dreams we’ve put off to support others. This is a dream goal of $37,000 which is pretty cool if you’re into numerology because the number of the house we’ve lived at for the last three years is 2601. 2+6+1= 9 and 3+7 = 10 which is 1 in numerology so we think the last three years of our life were truly about learning and integrating new knowledge and ways of being and now we are graduating to the next phase, hence the numerological 1.
This is our vision:
Buying a home and moving costs - after several years of instability, we want to have the stability of having our own home that can be a haven for us and our chosen family. The house will be in Shawna’s name because Black queer home ownership is important, especially later in life.

$12,000+ down payment
$2,000 movers and storage
$1000 household items
Top Surgery - Arizona medicaid doesn’t cover any of the costs for any transgender surgeries. During this time with the kids, Jasper took steps towards supporting their gender transition and this is the next step! The kids have been a huge support. They are so cool!
$10,000 covers all hospital and surgery costs, flights to and from Florida, and accommodations for 1 week in Florida during recovery.
Moving Joaneé to college - Holy shit! We are so proud of Joaneé! We are her fourth set of parents. From her main parent being incarcerated and having to adjust to me and Jasper move in, to COVID, not only has she has stayed focused, but she’s been a tremendous support for us and the kids. We couldn’t have done this without her. She’s been such a gift. She’s going away to Davis for college and we’d love to make sure any fees not covered by financial aid are covered as well as make sure she has good supplies and all materials that she needs to comfortably move into the dorms.

We have savings for our next several months of living expenses, therapy, horseback riding, and the gym we just joined. Again, we’re moving from the numerological 9 to 1: elevation and new beginnings.
