This GoFundMe Page has been set up by Clyda Rovers GAA and Mourneabbey Ladies Football Clubs. Both panels are competing to see who can run the distance from Mourneabbey to Croke Park and back the quickest (total distance 512km). We want to raise some much needed funds for the DoItForDan Trust. Please donate what you can to this very worthy cause. 

Dan is the son of former Laois footballers Niall and Aisling Donoher. Niall and Aisling have given great service to the GAA over the years and it’s now the GAA’s time to give back. In December 2019, at just 8 months, Dan was diagnosed with a rare genetic neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1 and Scoliosis. The life expectancy of an child with SMA Type 1 is 18-24 months. However, there is hope. A new treatment (Zolgensma) is available but it's only available in the US at a cost of $2.1 million. This therapy can only be given to children under the age of 2 so they are in a MASSIVE RACE AGAINST TIME to raise the necessary funds.

Both sets of players have registered with the Strava App. Clyda Rovers players will be grouped together and Mourneabbey players will be grouped together. The competition commences on Saturday, 25th April at 7am. All runs completed will be logged on the app and the first team to run the distance from Mourneabbey to Croke Park and back will be deemed the winner.  May the best team win!!
