Mourne Way Ultra for AutismNI
Hi everyone, it’s 100% a bit of cliché that you hit your 30s and suddenly start doing triathlons and marathons and true to form I’ve decided to run my first ultra marathon within the next few months.
On the 1st of June 2024 I will run the Mourne Way Ultra Marathon (all 52 miles of it) across the mountains. This is a huge challenge for me, but one that holds real personal significance as I plan to raise as much as possible for Autism NI in the process.
My son Farai is neuro diverse, and myself and Emma have seen firsthand the lack of support and funding available for people with ASD and their families, in Northern Ireland. Autism NI is an incredible charity which helps, assists and educates families like ours, and campaigns for autism acceptance within society.
Farai is an amazing little boy who is teaching us so much. As a parent of someone with ASD, the current system in place is frustrating and stressful when all you want to do is ensure the best for your child. This is why charities like Autims NI are so vital to bridge the gap in available services.
I can’t exaggerate how grateful I would be for any donations made, big or small. Cheers! Dermi
