'Mountain Left Behind' - A Documentary of New Beginnings

Donation protected
'Mountains Left Behind' is a powerful story of survival, resilience, and identity. It traces the journey of Armenians forced to flee genocide, seeking refuge across borders, and planting new roots in foreign lands. At its heart is the story of a young girl emigrating to South America, where she embarks on a new life, learns a new language, and starts a family—all while preserving her Armenian heritage and passing it down through generations. Featuring exclusive interviews with Armenians from Quebec, 'Moutains Left Behind' explores the challenges and triumphs of resettling in Canada, the final home for many. The documentary celebrates the enduring spirit of Armenian traditions through language, food, culture, and vibrant community celebrations.

Thomas, Luca and Julius are three dedicated filmmakers, each with their unique experience. Thomas is a filmmaker and photographer from Newfoundland. Luca is a director and cinematographer from France, and Julius is a filmmaker and producer from Belgium. After settling in Montreal in the summer of 2024, the three started to work around Thomas' goal - to recount the powerful stories of survival, resilience, and identity found in those who had to flee their home.

We are working towards our goal of securing funding to support our documentary. These funds will help us fairly compensate our crew, cover entry fees for film festivals, and manage travel expenses, ensuring our project reaches its full potential.
