Mountain Community School

The Mountain Community School is a public, free, K-8 charter school serving students in the area. Currently there are no other choices in education aside from the McCall Donnelly School District. MCS offers a place-based approach to integrated curriculum with a personalized learning aspect that allows students to have voice and choice in their learning. MCS is also mastery-based allowing students to advance upon demonstrating mastery, not based on seat time or age. MCS has an approved charter from the State of Idaho and over 100 families interested and in support. The state of Idaho does not provide start-up funds for charter schools; these initial funds are required to outfit students and staff with necessary equipment to open Fall 2022. Following opening, state funding sustains the MCS budget. Funding is needed for curriculum, technology, and furniture. A loan for other aspects is already secured.
