This spring, 16 of us from GXO in Greenford are taking on the challenge of hiking Mount Snowdon to raise vital funds for Samaritans, a charity dedicated to preventing suicide and supporting mental health. This demanding climb is far more than a physical test of endurance — it is a deeply meaningful effort to stand up for mental health awareness, to honour those we’ve lost, and to help save lives.
Suicide remains one of the biggest, yet most preventable, causes of death in the UK. Every 90 minutes, a friend, family member, colleague, or loved one is lost to suicide. That statistic is heartbreaking — and behind every number is a person with a story, dreams, and people who care about them. Entire families and communities are left grieving, often in silence.
By completing this hike, we aim to raise crucial funds for Samaritans so they can continue providing their life-saving services. Samaritans offer emotional support, crisis intervention, and a safe space for people who may feel overwhelmed, isolated, or have nowhere else to turn. The funds raised will help ensure that their confidential support remains available 24/7 to anyone who needs it.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to a future where fewer lives are lost to suicide and more people receive the care, understanding, and compassion they deserve. If you’re able to support us, you won’t just be helping us reach the summit of Snowdon — you’ll be helping to give hope, save lives, and show that mental health matters
