Mount Rushmore Internship Travel Expenses
Donation protected
My name is Grace Houston, and recently I received an Internship offer at Mount Rushmore National Memorial for the 2024 summer season. The Kay Jorgensen Interpretive Internship program will provide me with the invaluable experience of working for the National Park Service, where I will learn how to write my own interpretive talks, provide informal interpretation roving on the park grounds, provide Junior Ranger experiences, and help staff the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center. With this opportunity, I will receive training and mentoring from Interpretative Rangers at Mount Rushmore. This internship would be invaluable to help launch my career with the National Park Service. But I need help getting to South Dakota! Part of this opportunity requires I have a personal vehicle to commute from housing to the work site, this will require me to make the 1,623 mile trip by car. I will have to make this trip again in August to return. This drive will take 2 and a half days, so this money would be used for gas, hotel rooms, and other travel expenses, for both the drive there and the return trip in August. In order for me to participate in this once in a lifetime experience, any contribution you would be willing to give would be greatly appreciated.
