Coronavirus is our biggest national crisis and a threat we are all facing together. Generally, for British riding schools and their ponies and horses, the outlook is desperate. This is our situation, here at Mount Mascal Stables. To help in the fight against the spread of Coronavirus, we had only one choice and closed the riding school doors on Friday 20 March 2020. This was with immense sadness and for the first time in 54 years of trading as a family business. But we knew it was the right thing. The on-going lockdown restrictions, which are set to be with us for some time, now seriously risk any chance of a future for our riding school and the welfare of the incredible horses and ponies in our care.
Our income has dropped to a catastrophically low level but ponies and horses are living creatures with needs. They continue to depend on us for their feed and water supplies, daily checks and care, paddock maintenance, visits from the vet and farrier and more. The truth is that they face a very worrying future without your help and our worst case outcome is hard to think about. For the only time in our history, we are asking for financial donations. We need your support if we are to have any chance of remaining a riding school in the years to come and, most importantly, to care for our ponies and horses through this time of crisis.
Your donations will help us to continue to look after each of them until they can return to their riding school activities, until they can meet our customers again and look after them again - through the smiles and laughter, the ups and downs of learning to ride.
We know the challenge of this time is touching the lives of everyone and we are enormously grateful for whatever amount you can give - one-off donations or on-going payments. If we can raise enough to cover costs through this period, then we will make it through. For our wonderful horses and ponies, it will have been a surprise holiday and a rather pleasant time. They and the team will be ready, happy to be back to work and to welcome everyone through our riding school doors once again.
