MDES needs our support now more than ever! Our goal is to raise $5550 to support MDES staff and programs:
50 donations @ $25 = playground equipment; art, music and garden supplies
25 donations @ $50 = books for the classroom and library
12 donations @ $100 = staff appreciation: lunches, treats for meetings and snacks for staff rooms
3 donations @ $200 = funding for Future of Maine Scholarship, field trips and staff retirement gifts
5 donations @ $250 = sponsor one day of Arts Week, an artist/expert on campus visit
BACKGROUND:
The staff at MDES needs our support now more than ever as they navigate teaching during the COVID19 pandemic. Our goal is to raise $5550 to support MDES teachers and staff as they continue to maintain high quality education for our children by being creative and staying flexible. These funds will be used to fill gaps in resources and programs that don't neatly fit into the school budget but are greatly needed during these challenging times. Here are a few examples of how the PTO funded grants helped enrich our childrens’ lives over the last 8 years: supplies for Thursday afternoon ERMA activities, winter sports gear, new water bottle filling station, fall open house, 8th grade banquet, school directory, piano repairs, astronomy trips and babysitter training course.
MDES PTO was started in 2012 by parents to promote parent, teacher, and community involvement in our school and to support the quality of education and community for our children. From its inception, the organization committed to investing all of the money raised right back into the school. The programs above would not have been possible without the generous support of our community of parents and friends. Thank you! We hope to see you all again soon in person at our traditional community fundraising events as soon as it is safe to get together.
