Motorsports Broadcaster Steve Richards Needs Help

Steve Richards, our beloved family member and friend, who you have no doubt heard calling NASCAR pit stops for PRN through the years, is in the midst of a long, difficult battle with COVID-19. He’s a fighter and is giving it his all to overcome but he has been placed in a medically-induced coma in an effort to heal his lungs.

In the meantime, Steve is in desperate need of our help. Admitted into the hospital before Thanksgiving, Steve has been fighting for his life with blood oxygen levels dipping to 87 percent and developing both bacterial and COVID-19 pneumonia. Being in the hospital has left him unable to provide an income for himself and that has allowed expenses to stack up – both short-term and long-term.

• In the short term, Steve’s mortgage and the proper care for his cats are of most importance. As most of your know, Steve is a huge animal lover and very active in the cat rescue community, giving his spare time to rescuing and saving the lives of countless helpless cats.

• Once Steve pulls out of this illness, he’ll face a steep recovery, one that will involve crucial comfort and care. A house to come home to and pets to keep him company are vital to maintaining his well-being and recovery. We need to do everything in our power to make sure the life he has known, and all the friends who have surrounded him over the years will be there when he wakes up.

• In the long term, Steve’s recovery will inhibit him from employment for a period of time. Unfortunately, bills don’t take a vacation for anyone. We need to ensure that funds will be there months after his discharge from the hospital, taking major stress off his plate while he strives to get back to the man we all love. A process, that no doubt, will involve physical therapy as being in a coma will lead to muscle weakness and other issues.

For those who have known Steve through his years in NASCAR, the industry is more of a big, extended family. When one of our own needs assistance, it’s in our nature to provide. It’s just what we do.
