MOTORISED MOBILITY WHEELCHAIR URGENTLY NEEDED PLEASE....
Hello Everyone ..This is my husband Patrick Murphy (Pa) aged 53 years and I am his wife Susan Fahey-Murphy(Susie) & also his Fulltime Carer ...Pa has been wheelchair bound now on and off for 13 years due to a back injury caused by a road traffic traffic accident in 2007...As the years passed he was also then diagnosed with the following medical conditions which now has him as a full time wheelchair user the past 3 years.
1. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) :
This causes inflammation of the lining of the joints, especially in the hands and fingers. ... Because RA is a progressive disease, symptoms typically get worse. If left untreated, it can cause severe damage to the joints and serious complications in the major organs..His Medical Conditions have now worsened & is seriously affecting his mobility in his standard wheelchair and is finding it very difficult to get around due to him losing feeling on his left side & is always in chronic pain. The following is a list of his medical conditions now.
2. Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD).
This is a rare condition that develops in joints. It occurs when a small segment of bone begins to separate from its surrounding region due to a lack of blood supply.
3. Osteoporosis :
Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or both. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, from sneezing or minor bumps. Osteoporosis means “porous bone.” healthy bone looks like a honeycomb. There's no cure for osteoporosis, but proper treatment can help protect and strengthen your bones. Pa has only recently been diagnosed with this form of arthritis after his consultant rang him on 02/04/2020 (On His Birthday actually) with his Bone Density Test Results as he could not attend his appointment with Covid 19 ...Unfortunately the news was bad ..Pa now has Osteoporosis in 70% of his bone structure on left side and is worsening by the day ...
4. Bladder Cancer was diagnosed in December 2017 which after 12 months of Chemotherapy Treatment is now in remission (Or so we hope as his yearly scope test appointment cannot be done now due to Covid 19) so fingers crossed on that one.
Pa has been on a waiting list now for 3 years to get a Motorised Wheelchair from our HSE Services here in Ireland ..Our Sincere Thanks to his Occupational Therapist Ann & all the staff & his Doctor Brian Morrissey @ The Western Road Medical Centre for all their endless efforts plus years of paperwork in trying to help Pa with this long process of red tape & bureaucracy , but due to lack of funding and a huge priority waiting list their efforts are in vain to date and is not looking good now especially with Covid 19....So as a last ditch attempt to help my husband Pa I am pleading with the good natured people of Ireland and beyond for any donation no matter how big or small as every penny counts & also we do obviously understand that the times we now find ourselves in are very difficult to be asking people for help, when so many are out of work & face uncertain futures , but i am at my wits end trying to help get Pa a new or used Motorised Wheelchair as soon as possible so to make his life more Independent by being able to get about on his own without my help.
Pa can drive our car only short distances to the Shop/Chemist or to Doctor appointments up to now, but he can't lift his heavy old model wheelchair with him anymore & it is getting more & more difficult for him to drive now with constant pain and that is the only bit of Independence he has had to date ...Thank you all very much for reading this & if you can donate to the fund it will be very much appreciated ...Pa dosen't need a fancy expensive chair as a good working or reliable/ comfortable one would suit so i have
set the fund request goal at 3,000 euro as they are the cheapest ones i have researched online in Ireland & we just can't afford that on our low income so wish us luck Thank You All & Please Be Safe & Stay Home
Best Regards
