Motorcycle Crash Medical Bills Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi, my name is James and I’m fundraising to cover medical bills accumulated following my rear tire blowing out at highway speed. After joining a private equity company assuring me of their secured funding, after 2 months of work I had been received a single bi-weekly paycheck and they let our health insurance lapse. Despite having 28 days to pay the premiums due, which would have reinstated the insurance retroactively to cover my accident, which the owner assured me he would do, he did not.
I sustained a concussion, 3 broken vertebrae in my neck E4-6, 3 broken ribs and a healthy right elbow gash and shoulder scrape. I was air-evacuated from Iola, KS TO St. Luke’s hospital in Kansas City. I spent 9 days there after receiving a “Lamectomy” to those vertebrae, to relieve the pressure on my spine. Nerve damage severely hampered the use of my right arm and hand, with my left hand slightly affected.
Due to no insurance for rehabilitation and having gone through a divorce in June-July of 2021, I lived in a house that had been leased by the employer for corporate guests and employees traveling into town. I had one or two house mates for a few days during the week. My balance was compromised and seemed to get worse through the week after release. After calling a friend and telling how I was having to crawl to get around the house, he came over and upon seeing me, immediately called an ambulance. I was brought to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where they diagnosed an staff infection in my arm and Rhabdomyolysis, a condition where damaged muscle tissue releases a protein into the bloodstream. This is then filtered out of the body by the kidneys. That protein (Myoglobin) breaks down into substances that can damage the kidney cells. After 5 days there, I was released and went to live with a friend who had a spare bedroom available.
Recovery was slow on my own, but I did reach 59 1/2 years of age in late October, so at that time I could access 401k, Without penalty, and I withdrew funds as needed to cover alimony and right hand physical therapy.
I was unable to work for four months and during the last month of that time, I began looking for work. I did back to work in February and I praise the Lord Jesus Christ for His mercy and grace through the experience. He is the reason that I’m alive for one, and two, that I’m doing as well as I am. If you saw me on the street, you think I was thexx CD epitaxy if good health, without know that every step is still painful, my hand works well but is still very stiff, my right forearm numb and that the nerves from my spine down into my hands are doing what I calm the “dance of healing”…I’m very blessed and have really come to appreciate life without much, just trusting and leaning into the Lord.
All if the above to simply ask for some help paying those bills. They totaled about $215,000, but some discounts have been given, to the point where $125,00 would get the debt collectors satisfied. If you’ve made this far, thank you for taking an interest in my story. If you can donate, that would be appreciated, and if you can’t or won’t, I understand that too. Please offer a prayer for my full restoration to health.
May Jesus Christ bless you and enter your heart with His light, life and love!
