Update: Insurance initially denied the Myopro, but after the appeal, insurance has agreed to cover the majority of the cost. My new goal is now $5,000. I will be able to receive the device by the end of the month if my goal has been met. Thank you to those that have supported me in my efforts and to those that will support me in the near future. Much Love and God Bless! On April 22, 2007, at the age of 22, my life was completely changed. I was involved in a motorcycle accident. I lost control of my motorcycle when the front tire busted. I was thrown from the motorcycle into a ditch as the motorcycle hit a tree. When I hit the ditch bank, I broke my spinal cord and stretched the nerves in my left arm. The breaking of my spinal cord resulted in me being paralyzed from the waist down. The injury to my left arm is called brachial plexus injury. The brachial plexus hinder me from being able to use my left arm. Through research, I discovered a device called MyoPro. The MyoPro is a powered brace that will help restore function in my arm and hand from the brachial plexus injury (BPI). By having the MyoPro it would allow me to dress, transfer myself from the bed to the chair to the shower. It will also allow me to be able to drive, so I can take my children to their appointments, practices, and games. This would also take some of the responsibility off of my wife who has been the source of strength dealing with my physical limitations. My wife of seven years is a full-time middle school teacher. We have three active sons ages 11, 12, and 13. Two of my sons are involved in various sports and all three are involved in band activities. It would mean the world to me and to them for me to be able to physically participate with them in their extracurriculars. By having the Myopro will also help me be able to do more for my community and other communities with being a volunteer for the Red Cross. I do many things within the Red Cross, such as Disability Integration, Intake, Screening, Disaster Workforce Engagement, and Casework. I will need your assistance in raising $65,000 to cover the cost of the MyoPro. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. For information about Myopro check out this link: https://myomo.com/
