Hello everyone, my name is Lizeth. My family were victims of a motorcycle accident due to negligence of a drunk driver. Unfortunately, incident occurred on Saturday, 9/27/25 at around 6:00pm. Mother (49-year-old Melida) and son (21-year-old Paul) were on their way riding a motorcycle to pick up Paul's birthday cake when a red truck crashed into them. This led to both Melida and Paul being hospitalized. Paul is conscious with a fractured tibia and knee and has multiple fractures on his left hand. Melida is unconscious with a broken pelvis and legs. She is currently being monitored and sedated. It is planned to have Paul and Melida transferred to another hospital to undergo surgery. As of now preparations are being made for Melida's transfer to another hospital. There is a risk for this transfer, but her health will continue to deteriorate if she continues to stay at the current hospital that is not equipped for the surgery she requires. We were given the estimated cost of $80,000 for Melida's surgery. We are waiting on Paul's estimate for surgery as well.

Unfortunately, the judge favored letting the person at fault free despite the evidence of high blood alcohol content. Currently, we are seeking a lawyer that will help us fight the case. We hope that justice will be served and that Melida and Paul will receive the proper treatment needed. We are worried for Melida's immediate family, since she is a single mother of five children and the breadwinner of the family. She is the main caretaker of her 30-year-old daughter who has cerebral palsy. We are in constant prayers for them.

**Update 10/4/25: There was approval for a doctor to perform surgery at the hospital that Melida and Paul were taken. We were just requested to buy the medical equipment or materials such as steel plates and screws for Paul's surgery. As for Melida, due to the risk of having her being transported to another hospital, the Doctor that was authorized to perform Paul's surgery agreed on performing Melida's surgery as well. Paul had a successful surgery on Thursday and Melida had her surgery Friday morning. However, we are saddened to announce that Melida had a heart attack and passed away after the surgery. Now we are are experiencing the soul crushing pain on the loss of a dear mother.

Hola a todos, me llamo Lizeth. Mi familia sufrió un accidente de motocicleta debido a la negligencia de un conductor ebrio. Desafortunadamente, el incidente ocurrió el sábado 27/9/25 alrededor de las 6:00 p. m. Madre (Melida, de 49 años) y hijo (Paul, de 21) iban en motocicleta a recoger el pastel de cumpleaños de Paul. Esto provocó que tanto Melida como Paul fueran hospitalizados. Paul está consciente con una fractura de tibia y rodilla, y múltiples fracturas en la mano izquierda. Melida está inconsciente con la pelvis y las piernas rotas. Actualmente está bajo monitoreo y sedación. Se planea trasladar a Paul y Melida a otro hospital para ser operados. Actualmente se están realizando los preparativos para el traslado de Melida a otro hospital. Existe un riesgo, pero su salud continuará deteriorándose si permanece en el hospital actual, que no está equipado para la cirugía que requiere. Nos informaron que el costo estimado de la cirugía de Melida es de $80,000. También estamos esperando el presupuesto de Paul para la cirugía.

Esperamos que se haga justicia y que Melida y Paul reciban el tratamiento adecuado. Nos preocupa la familia inmediata de Melida, ya que es madre soltera de cinco hijos y el sostén de la familia. Es la principal cuidadora de su hija de 30 años, que padece parálisis cerebral. Oramos constantemente por ellos.
