Help Launch the Mothership: A National "Mothership Connected: The Women of Parliament-Funkadelic" Book Tour Honoring Funk’s Hidden Heroines

Support the Journey. Celebrate the Legacy. Elevate the Funk.

The Book and Author:
Seth Neblett is the author of “Mothership Connected: The Women of Parliament-Funkadelic” (University of Texas Press, Sept. 30, 2025) and son of Mallia “Queen of Funk” Franklin, the Godmother of P-Funk. This book highlights the often-overlooked contributions of the remarkable women behind the P-Funk empire, showcasing their electrifying performances, innovative studio work, and impact on culture. With firsthand accounts from music legends like George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Sly Stone, and the women themselves, “Mothership Connected” finally gives recognition to the Black female trailblazers who shaped a transformative era in music.

The Mission:
The “Mothership Connected” National Book Tour is more than just a promotional endeavor; it is a passionate act of cultural preservation and an earnest effort to elevate visibility. In an era when Black history and the stories of women face the threat of erasure, this initiative celebrates the innovation, resilience, and artistry that have profoundly shaped the music landscape.

Why Your Support is Critical:
The first 60-90 days after a book's publication are crucial for visibility and cultural impact. We're excited to share there are already seven book events scheduled, with more to come! Many events are currently unsponsored and require external funding, and your support can help propel the “Mothership Connected” book tour during this important launch phase. By sponsoring the tour, you will help preserve vital narratives, amplify women’s voices in music, promote diversity, and celebrate the legacy of Parliament-Funkadelic and Funk music through an inclusive lens.

The Ultimate Support Goal: Our ultimate goal is to take this story on the road—visiting music museums, Black cultural centers, universities, bookstores, and festivals across the U.S., and ultimately internationally. This tour celebrates the fans that supported the Funk, the icons that inspired the book, and connects with the students, artists, and fans who carry the Funk forward.

What your support will help cover:
• Travel & lodging for the author to cities and states across the nation.
• Travel & lodging and artist honorariums for SURPRISE P-Funk guests in select cities
• Promotional & Merchandise materials & shipping
• Marketing & Outreach - For PR, social media promotion, and press coordination
• Monetary Support for Pop-up panels, Q&A’s, and book signings all around the nation

Whether you can give $5, $500 or $5000, every dollar gets us one mile closer to liftoff. Your donation helps put these women’s voices front and center, where they belong. This tour is not just about a book—it’s a call to remember, reclaim, and rejoice in P-Funk’s collective genius. Fuel the Mothership. Be part of a movement that honors the past and empowers the future.

“The Mothership doesn’t just land — it connects.”
Be part of the movement. Be part of the connection.
