Mother's is the Red River Valley's oldest record store and Minnesota's second oldest record store. We should be celebrating our 50th Anniversary, but due to COVID-19, we've been closed for almost 6 weeks and we're anticipating being closed for at least a couple more. We really want to do what is right for public safety and reopen as soon as Minnesota public health officials give us a green light to do so in an economically viable way.
However, we've experienced some extreme financial hardship and are unsure if we'll make it through this pandemic. We've burned through a loan, our savings and borrowed money from family just to keep our head above water. But we're still coming up short. And that doesn't even include the bills that we've postponed or pushed-back paying. Sales tax, energy bills, rent, loans...they keep adding up and we have no money coming in.
So we're humbly asking for your support to get back on our feet again. We'd also like to be able to give our employees raises as a form of hazard pay since we know that they'll be putting themselves at risk if we open again. That's the least we can do for them. The stress and anxiety has become almost unbearable for me and I was encouraged to take this route by a couple friends.
Thank You so much for your consideration and 50 years of support!
