Mother's last wish to be laid to rest home in Zambia

Hi Everyone,

Our beloved Fatima tragically passed away in the UK after battling with cancer since 2018.

Fatima came to the UK 10 years ago and has made an impact both here in the UK and in her home country, Zambia.

She fearlessly fought and beat breast cancer twice, but unfortunately, it was not the case this time.

While undergoing chemotherapy, Fatima still worked hard to secure her kids' future and spread love even during the tough times.

She worked with vulnerable children in the care system in a care home looking after the elderly. She absolutely loved spreading love and was very fond of its residents. She even went on to do nursing in the NHS, all while undergoing chemotherapy. She was a fighter.

Eight months after defeating her second breast cancer, she got the devasting news. She was diagnosed with metastatic (incurable) bone cancer.

She vowed to secure her kids' future and still worked after this diagnosis. Despite the challenges faced, Fatima worked tirelessly to secure a future for her three children, Darren, Favour, and Miracle, bringing them to the UK with the support of compassionate friends and community

This metastatic bone cancer spread rapidly throughout her body over 2 years, affecting her mobility, memory, and motor skills. She was bedridden and needed a lot of help.

She needed a lot of strong pain medication to feel okay due to the progression of her illness.

It was weighing heavy on her heart the thought of leaving her kids motherless. She didn't want her kids to go through the same pain she experienced of losing a mother to cancer.

After two days in hospital, we got the shock of our lives a call to say Fatima's organs were failing, and she sadly passed away. We did not expect it so soon.

She was a true fighter.

Fatima was a devoted mother and a beacon of hope for many in Zambia, always extending a helping hand to those in need, till the very last day.

Her kindness has left a lasting impact, and everyone who knew her had something good to say.

Fatima’s last wish was to be laid to rest beside her late mother and daughter (first born who passed away shortly after birth) in Zambia and for her kids to be there. As a family, we are determined to honour her final wish. However, we need financial support to make this possible.

I have set a target of £11,000.

This would be to cover costs of repatriation from England to Zambia where we can only repatriate her to a place 7 hours away from her hometown, meaning we would also need to look at the costs of transporting her to her hometown. We have also factored in booking return flight tickets for the 3 children from England to Zambia.

Your support in making this heartfelt wish come true would mean the world to us and her during this difficult time.

God bless you!
