Mothers Day Emergency: Eagle Mountains BAD WATER!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Carson McMaster, and I’m fundraising on behalf of my incredible mom, Paula Wells, a hard working cashier at Walmart and a single mother who has always given everything she has to support our family here in Eagle Mountain, Utah.

What Happened

On Friday, May 9th (right around Mother’s Day), my mom discovered a serious water leak underneath her front porch—connected directly to the city’s main water line. Over the last few months, our water bill skyrocketed to $550 a month, making it impossible to ignore.
We later learned that the City of Eagle Mountain had recently changed their policies and no longer capped residential water costs. That meant we were suddenly responsible for all overages—whether we knew about the leak or not—and what was once a manageable bill became completely unaffordable.
With help from our kind neighbors, we confirmed that water was being used even with everything inside the house turned off—about 1 gallon every 7 minutes. That’s when we called Any Hour Plumbing, and they confirmed our worst fear: the main line under the porch had failed.
The Cost & Damage
Any Hour told us the original piping was outdated and not up to code, including one vertical pipe that should never have passed inspection. They offered the most affordable option they could—rerouting the plumbing entirely. The repair came with unavoidable property damage, including:

Removal of our front sidewalk

Loss of our favorite bush

Trenching through the yard

The total repair cost came to $12,000. We now have one year to pay this before a 15.49% interest rate kicks in, something we just can’t afford.

A Mother's Day to Remember
When my mom told me what was going on, she just said, “Happy Mother’s Day, I guess.” We both laughed a little—because that’s how we cope—but this has been incredibly hard on us.
She’s a single mom who raised me and my brother on her own, working hard every day. I’m currently working full-time and doing freelance video editing, and even with both of us working, we simply don’t make enough to absorb this emergency. Without help, she may have to borrow against her 401(k)—her retirement savings—just to keep us afloat.

Why We Need Your Help
We’re asking for your help to raise $12,000 to cover this emergency plumbing repair and keep our family from sinking into long-term debt.
If you’re a homeowner in Eagle Mountain, especially in a house over 20 years old, please check your insurance. The city is aware that these kinds of leaks are happening, and unfortunately, we weren’t prepared. We urge you to learn from our experience and protect yourself now—because it could happen to you, too.

A Note from Us
Thank you so much for reading and for caring. Whether you can give or just share this with others, it means the world to us. Any support helps ease the burden and gives us a chance to breathe again.

With love,

Carson McMaster & Paula Wells
