Mother with ALS needs handicap restroom remodel
Donation protected
My name is Juleann and I'm 17 years old. In March 2021 my mom was diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gherigs disease. It is a neurodegenerative muscle disorder. As time progresses she is losing the ability to use her muscles. She will be in a wheelchair very soon. She has lost the ability to balloon twist, sew, tat, carving, and drive.
In addition my little brother B.J. has Spina Bifida and has been in a wheelchair his whole life.
Thanks to your generous donations we were able to secure a wheelchair accessible van. My moms condition is progressing faster than we had hoped.
We live in an older home that is not handicapped friendly. We are now seeking donations to remodel our bathroom. It's a small confined space with a conventional porcelain bathtub. Its hard for her to get in and out of even with assistance. Our plan is to install a low step entry shower with assistance rails and built in seat so that it is easier for her and for us to help her.
The funds remaining after the purchase of the van (about $ 200) are still in the GoFundMe account to be added to new donations to go towards the bathroom remodel.
