Help Support Nicole's Brain Surgery(No Insurance)
Donation protected
UPDATE: On Wednesday, Nicole had surgery to replace the shunt she has had in her brain since childbirth. The procedure was a success, so now her doctor will work with her to get it calibrated to daily life.
On Thursday, Nicole celebrated her 30th Birthday with her greatest gift of all; a visit from her son Hayden. The ICU staff was kind enough to allow us to bring her dinner and a cake to celebrate. She was in much better spirits. While her headaches were manageable, the pain from the incisions in her head and neck are unbearable at times.
Also on Thursday, she had a CT Scan of her abdomen to look at her bladder as this appears to be the root cause of the infection that started this whole ordeal. They believe there is a fistula(hole) in the bladder from damage that occurred during a c-section birth of Hayden. We're all praying that whatever they find will be simple to fix and we can get her home real soon.
Lastly, I want to give the most heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has sent her prayers and well wishes. God is so good, and I know He is with her and her doctors. She is quickly getting back to the Nicole we all know and love. I'd also like to thank everyone who has donated to this cause. The hospital bills are going to be astronomical and she will still need follow-up care once she's home. Please continue to share this fundraiser as the money we raise will be critical in helping Nicole and her family through this difficult time.

Hi, my name is Laura Rogusky and I am fundraising for my daughter Nicole(Nikki), who has been in the ICU battling a massive infection in her abdomen. Doctors feel the infection is being caused by damage to Nikki's bladder which was sustained during the C-Section delivery of her son Hayden.
As a result of the infection, her neurosurgeon made the decision to remove the lower section of her current shunt to prevent the infection from spreading to her brain. When Nikki was born, she had to have a shunt installed in her brain to remove excess fluids that were building up due to Craniosynostosis(bones in her skull joined together too early).
After a challenging 13 days in ICU, her neurosurgeon feels the infection has now been cured. If her bloodwork remains normal, with no fever or abdominal pain, she'll have a CT Scan of her abdomen and brain
done on Monday. At that point, if the CT Scan is clear, she'll be scheduled for shunt replacement surgery on Wednesday. At a minimum, she will have to spend 21 days in the ICU.
Sadly, Nikki and her family do not have insurance.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to assist Nikki and her family as follows:
- Pay her medical bills, which will be astronomical
- Pay for her follow-up care as her neurosurgeon checks and calibrates her new shunt
- Pay for childcare to allow her body to continue to heal once she's finally able to go home. Hayden is a very smart, energetic boy that commands a lot of attention.
- Pay for household bills(rent, utilities, food, etc)
Nikki is a strong, beautiful Mom and I know she'll do everything in her power to get her life back on track as soon as she can. She has the love and support of her husband Jason and her family, but she's also stubborn and independent as she'd prefer to do things for others than have others do things for her. Before this medical challenge occurred, Nikki was excelling in her career at Winn Dixie and was about to be promoted again.
With the grace of God, this fundraiser will help ease her mind as she and he husband face the mountain of medical bills that will come and the challenges of returning to her normal life. We need her to relax, not stress and let her body heal fully.
Thank you for taking the time to a read her story.
