Mother needing help to not be evicted from home
Donation protected
My name is Sarah Holtz Stout. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in St. Louis, MO and I live in South City. I come to you with an emergency ask for a friend who is currently in eviction proceedings. Unfortunately, there are very few housing resources available to help keep this woman from being removed from her home. So I’m turning to crowdsourcing to help her. She has asked for a lot of discretion because she does work all around the metro area and does not want people to know the situation she is in.
She is a queer, Black mother with one child. In the past few years, she has had an avalanche of medical emergencies both in and out of work that have made it harder for her to pay her bills. She is an entrepreneur and community activist but she is waiting on a few developments before her hard work will pay off. At this time, she has until June 5th to pay her back-due rent of $5000 in order to stay in her apartment. That is the most urgent need! But if we can raise a bit more, it would help give her the cushion to pay at least part of her rent for a few more months as she gets her work to pay off more fully.
Our country is so hard on people who do not have any backup resources. There is no safety net, and so we have to rely on the support and love of community and mutual aid. Can you help her keep a roof over her and her child’s head? Please help in whatever way you can!!
