Mother loses everything one year after son's death

Donation protected
I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and an urgent plea for help. My mother Ginetta has recently experienced a devastating fire that completely destroyed her home and left her with nothing but the clothes on her back. This tragic event has turned her life upside down, and she is struggling to find a way forward.

In an instant, she lost all her belongings, including essential items, cherished memories, and the place she called home. She is now facing the overwhelming task of rebuilding her life from scratch, and she needs your support to get back on her feet.

The funds raised will go towards:

Securing temporary housing for my mother
Replacing essential items such as clothing, furniture, and household goods
Covering basic living expenses as she navigates this difficult time
Your generosity can make a significant difference in helping my mother regain some stability and hope in the midst of this crisis. No amount is too small, and every contribution is deeply appreciated.

Please join us in this effort to help my mother rebuild her life. Together, we can overcome this tragedy and find a path forward for her.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

With gratitude and love,
Ashley

UPDATE! Please read and see links below for 2 TV news stories on my mother and the fire that destroyed her home last week.

Today marks one week since the devastating fire that destroyed the homes of my mother and 75 of her neighbors at the Oxford Manor Apartments in Southeast DC. According to DC Fire and EMS, the cause of the fire, which made 30 apartments in the complex uninhabitable, was illegal fireworks.

As so many of us prepare to celebrate July 4th this week with family gatherings and yes, fireworks, my mother and her neighbors are struggling with their urgent and immediate needs: finding new housing and replacing basic necessities like clothes and furniture.

We have a specific request for help. Yesterday, my mother was able to find an available apartment.

Please donate! Any amount, no matter how small, matters and is meaningful. And please also share this GoFundMe link and post it on social media.

A local news channel did a story on the fire featuring an interview with my wonderful mother. As some of you know, she has been through a lot in the last year with the loss of her son, and her focus right after the fire was on recovering the urn that contains his ashes as well as some special keepsakes, which fortunately were spared from the fire, smoke, and water damage. She is taking comfort in this blessing and is determined to move forward. Please help her in any way you can.
